Greve in Chianti

On Thursday we headed out to the wine country to see if we could taste some real Italian Chianti. Unfortunately, due to the holiday, buses were only running partial schedules. This meant that we couldn't do a full tour as we had hoped, but we did make it out to a little town called Greve in Chianti. There we had the best meal we've had so far at a small ristorante next to the bus stop. Amazing mozarella & tomatoes (caprese) and even more amazing pizza Margherita. After that we walked down to the Uzzano winery and sampled their wines. Not bad, but not nearly as good as Ruffino, which by the way, doesn't offer tours and isn't open to the public.

We also hiked down to the Verazzano (yes, just like the bridge) winery to try their wine. Unfortunately, due to the holiday, they weren't offering tastings or tours. Very annoying.

All things considered, it was still a great day though as we had a chance to sample some great wine, had a great meal, and also got to see some of the amazing Italian countryside.
