Pisa!

On Friday we decided to take a trip out to Pisa to see the leaning tower.

Pisa is a nice little college town with some 33,000 students studying at the local university. It is noticeably cleaner than the bigger cities and the area around the tower is extremely nice despite all of the tourists and street vendors. The train ride out there costs 10 euros and took about 1.5 hours. It cost 15 euros to go up in the tower, so we skipped that and walked around the grounds instead. We didn't stay long, but had a nice time while we were there and of course we took the obligatory pictures of us holding up the tower!

That night we went back to Florence and had easily the best meal of the trip at a little restaurant run by a former Hapsburg prince. I had parpadelle and Leslie had brie ravioli with artichokes. Both dishes were outstanding and the ambience was perfect. We got a great picture with us and the prince too. Very cool. We have certainly eaten well thus far on the trip. Nearly every day has included cappuccino, pizza margherita, pasta, and gelato. All of my favorites!
